  • TEACHING PRACTICE

Teaching Procedures Before beginning my teaching practice, I took the first step of preparing a clear and structured lesson plan. I then reviewed it with my supervisor, Miss Mai, to ensure it aligned with the learning standards. This plan served as a roadmap for each session, helping me organize the content and activities for the classroom effectively. Managing Time and Organizing Tasks I conducted my teaching practice in classes 6C and 8D. During each session, I adhered to my lesson plan, ensuring that the activities stayed on track and that I covered the material within the allotted time. Management of the Classroom In managing the classroom, I set clear rules to maintain a structured and positive environment. I encouraged students to participate through Q&A sessions and allowed them to discuss with peers if they encountered challenging questions. I also checked in with students frequently to address any questions on the material or assignments. To keep students engaged, I incorporated interactive activities and small games related to the lesson, which made learning more enjoyable, particularly in subjects like physics. Solving Problems When students encountered difficulties, I would re-explain the steps for solving the problems. I then asked a student to solve a similar problem on the board, applying the method I demonstrated, which reinforced their understanding and confidence in the concepts.

  • SUMMARY AND SUGGESTIONS

My one-month stay in Vietnam was an incredibly memorable experience. I am grateful for the opportunity to observe, assist, and teach at Future School in Cao Lãnh, Đồng Tháp. Throughout my practicum, I gained valuable insights, skills, and experiences that I look forward to bringing back to my home country. Future School, known locally as Trường Tương Lai, is a diverse educational institution welcoming students from various cultural and religious backgrounds. The school offers a wide range of facilities, including modern classrooms with whiteboards, tables, chairs, and projectors that support effective learning. These resources, alongside the school’s emphasis on both academic and personal growth, provide a balanced environment that nurtures students’ cognitive, social, and emotional development. Future School's curriculum revolves around project-based learning, which supports their objective of cultivating 21st-century skills and equipping students to tackle global challenges. This approach emphasizes not just academic abilities but also fosters critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration, all essential for nurturing a generation ready for the future. By participating in project-based learning, students immerse themselves in practical tasks that help them build a comprehensive set of skills. After observing the situation, I have some recommendations for improving the integration of technology in classroom teaching. Future School currently has laptops and projectors that could be better utilized by integrating interactive, technology-driven educational materials. For instance, teachers could create captivating PowerPoint presentations or multimedia resources to enhance classroom interactions and increase students' enthusiasm for learning. On the whole, I am extremely thankful to the SEA-Teacher Exchange Student Program for the invaluable experience I had at Future School. I acquired fresh skills and knowledge that will be essential in my journey as an educator. This chance not only helped me grasp the Vietnamese education system but also equipped me to be a versatile and capable teacher for the students I will teach in the future.

  • PEDAGOGICAL CONTENTS

At the start of my observation week at Future School, I noticed that the teaching approach strongly emphasizes interactive and project-based learning. My cooperating teacher, an English instructor, used real-world experiences to create an engaging, hands-on learning environment. For example, in a lesson on classroom objects, she brought in actual items as visual aids. Students were encouraged to show their own items if they had them, making the lesson more interactive and helping them master the topic through direct engagement. This method aligns well with Future School’s focus on collaborative and problem-solving activities. By integrating real-life examples, students don’t just memorize content; they actively participate and develop a deeper understanding through experience. This project-based approach helps create a learning environment where students feel engaged and empowered to explore and share their insights.
